Lately, I have been dabbling in affiliate marketing and decided to choose article marketing as my highway of traffic choice. It is free, fairly easy to understand, and requires no website. I have heard and read all the wonderful reasons why I should use squidoo as an avenue for article marketing, but have not yet been successful. After writing several lenses, I want to know, why won’t google index my squidoo lens? I have done the keyword research and even did a squidoo experiment lens on a keyword phrase which had virtually no competition, but it was still not indexed.
So, I am going to do a little experiment with a squidoo lens I just created, which has not been indexed yet. I will place the link in this post and see if the google robot will see the link here and then go back and view my lens as something meaningful enough to index. My lens Losing Weight Post Pregnancy has yet to be indexed even though I manually submitted it, and used low competition keywords.
I would like to know, for all those people out there who use squidoo faithfully, how are you getting your squidoo lenses ranked in google?
I would love to hear from anyone who can help me out!

Well, I am back after a restful weekend. I have read through the “easy biz system” several times and am ready to implement the advice given. Now, I also subscribed to an awesome affiliate teaching website which has given me an incredible amount of information. I am not going to use any of the information from this affilate, website, but only stick to the information given to me from the easy biz system. I am going to pretend that I have never heard of affiliate marketing until now, and also pretend that my only experience with a computer is checking my email.
With that being said, here is a small quote from Easy Biz System, which is directing me to do a specific task, which will help me make $1000/ day. The previous section was discussing how a person can make money from selling an informational product that the public is demanding. The author asks me to think of some categories in which people are hungry for information and do a search on them. The author says, “I want you to try it now. Click Yahoo Tools – Click on “Keyword Selector Tool” under tools menu on right.”

Okay, pretending I know NOTHING about how to do this, I tried to click on the link given to Yahoo tools and find the keyword selector tool which the author told me to do. Unfortunately, when I did this, I was directed to a site in Yahoo where I could not find any Keyword selector tool at all! So, the very first step to my money making adventure was shut down. But I hate quitting, so I decided that I would use a little of my own knowledge and go ahead and use the google keywords tool in adwords to get an idea about how many people are searching for information. I decided to search out “hair loss.” Basically I found that there were 823,000 searches for hair loss in February. According to the author, the higher the search term the better. I am told to do this with 5 different subjects, but in this blog, I will just stick to hair loss.
My next task is to find an affiliate product to promote which deals in hair loss. According to the author, I could promote banner ads on my own website or go to clickband or commission junction and find some products. I am told that if I know of a product without an affiliate program, I could write the company offering to promote the product and request a commission. Now, at this point, let me stress, the only information given about doing any of these former tasks are the website links. If I never heard of clickbank, only saw banner ads on websites and never created a website of my own, I would just stop right there since I would be so confused that I would be unable to proceed. There is such little information given about how to do these tasks that I would not tell anyone to pay for this information. It is terrible!
Since I do know about clickbank and happen to have an account setup with them, I will do the easiest thing and pick a hair loss product to promote.
My next step, according to the author is to make a website. This is suppose to be very easy if I go to a website called Homestead. In fact, it is so easy and inexpensive, the author says it should take just a few hours. Once I have that up and running, I am to log into google adwords and advertise with pay-per-click. That is it, I am told. As easy as that. No other real substanital advice is given.
Now, I said that I would go ahead and follow the instructions given and see what happens at the end of 30 days. Because I know what can happen to my credit card if I do this, I am going to save myself thousands of dollars and just let go of my $24.95, and this is why:
1) This system does not adequately teach how to determine what a profitable niche market would be. The only information given is a bad link to Yahoo to explore a keyword tool in order to see how many people are searching for that topic. The link does not even go to the page which has this tool, so it is useless. Even if a person does know they can go and use the keyword tool in google adwords, this is still not enough information to find the right niche market. I used a broad topic, “hair loss.” Yes, 823,000 people searched for this, which is what the author claimed was a good thing. However, there was over 23,000,000 competing pages of content for this keyword term. Where do you think I will rank with google with this keyword? Certainly not the first page, and probably not the fiftieth page either.
2) Since keyword selection was not even covered, choosing a broad keyword, such as hair loss, would not only rank me extemely low in the natural search, but also low in pay-per-click as well. The author does not even cover ranking well in SEO, but only suggests that I build a website and advertise through pay-per- click. With such a broad keyword as hair loss, I would probably need to spend $20 per click just to make it to the first or second page. I would be spent right into bankruptcy.
3) Not only would the broad keyword higher my cost per click, but also give me poor conversion rates in buying. It has been researched that broader termed keywords are searched when a consumer is just beginning his/her research on a particular topic. They are not yet ready to buy. Therefore the type of people clicking on my ad, would be doing so out of curiosity and research, and I woud not be making sales, but losing money. It is better to narrow down and define the keyword. So, instead of hair loss, I might use the keywords “growing back hair with Rogaine,” or “Rogaine stops hair loss”. Before using those terms, I would do research to compare the terms and see which converted to better traffic, determine how many competing pages used these terms, and then decide if it would be a profitable niche. The key here is to have keywords which have a good amount of people searching for them, but not a huge amount of competing pages. When you find a niche like this, you will be able to rank higher in the natural search. You will also not need to pay as much per click when you use google adwords as a means to advertise. You also will have a target audience who is more ready to buy, since they have already searched out a product name and are more informed about the product. Essentially, this type of audience has their credit card in hand. They are ready to buy.
4) The author gives no suggestions about building the webpage. Some of the things which should have been included are captivating headlines, keyword relevance, targeted, relevant content and excellent ad copy, just to name a few. There is so much involve with building a good webpage, that I do not even want to begin to make suggestions. The author should have been given information on how to get the website good SEO ratings in google. This is extremely important and can save thousands of dollars in advertising costs. Having a website with good keyword selection, captivating headlines and relevant, targeted content will also lower your PPC cost and result in higher ROI.
4) More information was needed on using google adwords. If I have not read this once, I have read it a thousand times, a person can easily burn their money away if they do not know what they are doing with pay-per-click. There are so many simple suggestions and tips which a person should know before using this great advertising system. Just make sure you know them, because mistakes will cost you money! Using appropriate keywords related to your website content, good ad copy and split testing are just a few things to consider when using adwords. It should also be noted that a beginner should not advertise on the content network in adwords.

There is so much not stated in the “easy biz system,” that I would be shocked if anyone could succeed. It almost seems like the author took about 45 minutes to an hour to quickly type something out and then sell it. I will give him/her some credit, however. He did write excellent ad copy, and really got me believing he could help me!

Look, if you are trying to get involved in internet marketing, do not get scammed. It is so easy to do! There is an ocean of information out there, and most of it is incomplete – just not as bad as what I just bought. I highly recommend the website wealthy affiliate. I don’t normally like to recommend too many things. I will say, I have bought ebooks, videos, spent time learning systems and spent hundreds of hours reading all kinds of junk. This website is by far the most complete teaching website that I have found. If you are not interested in network marketing or MLM and want to start making money soon, try this website and learn how to do internet marketing for a few months and see what you think. I am amazed at how much I have learned.

{February 28, 2009}   Easy Biz System Scam

I post this because I have tolerated the internet’s predators far too long. I have been on the internet looking into money making opportunities for awhile. I have purchased many systems, reviewed them on my own and received my money back when the system couldn’t live up to its promise. I do not consider these systems scams, because I was able to have my money refunded. I did waste my time, but that was my decision to experiment in an area I knew almost nothing about. I write this post, because last night, I believe I paid for the absolute worst piece of crap out there. If you knew me, you would be surprised that I phrase the previous sentence like that. I am normally a very quiet, nice person who does not like confrontations. But, with so many people who are now out of jobs and looking for a way to make money in unconventional ways, more and more people will become victims to internet predators. People will come here desperate. They may not know how to set up a domain name or even undersand what is meant by search engine optimization. They will see the nice sales letter promising that they will absolutely make money and buy the information with excitement. Unfortunately, they will have wasted their time and money because most of the information out there is either incomplete or complete nonsense.

The system I purchased last night happens to be incomplete. I was looking into money making affiliate programs and came across a system which promised me that I could make at least $1000 per month just by working two hours per day. I believe the sales letter even mentioned that someone must be praying for me since I found this amazing opportunity. It promised me that if I did everything it said, I would definitely be making money. It also promised to virtually hold my hand and make sure that I was successful. I was also promised that I could get my money back if it didn’t work. When something promises a money back guarantee, I will go ahead and check it out if it seems interesting. So, being very gullible, I paid the $25 for what I thought would be a complete system. I received an email link about a half hour later. I dived into the content, to see what I needed to do in order to make this money so quickly and easily. What I found were several pages of why I wouldn’t get my money back if I wasn’t satisfied with the program. If I didn’t like what this person said, it was not a reason to give me a refund. I needed to do what was described for at least 30 days. Now, at this point, I was extremely skeptical about the program since the first few pages were all about why I wouldn’t get a refund. But, I continued reading, hoping for some great advice…some secret that I didn’t already know. I was like a kid in a candy store, hoping to find the coveted stash of rare candy. I read and read…HMMM….nothing very interesting or new. I read until the very end and then got mad. If I were completely new to the internet, this program would have made no sense at all to me. Seriously, I would not have been able to understand what I needed to do exactly. It was not clear, step by step, or easy to follow. There was so much missing to this program, that I would love to challenge it’s creator to give it to my mother, who knows absolutely nothing about the internet, and see if she could do it. I know she couldn’t.
If the creator of this program is reading this, I challenge you to go back and redo your program. Go look at the spiderweb networking program and see how to put together a step by step tutorial. That is a real program and it is FREE! My mother could even follow it! I am not even involved in the SpiderWeb program, but I tested it to see what it was. Another great program to look at is MLM leads pro. It is the same type of step by step program, but there is a monthly fee.

Now, to be fair, I am going to do this. I will do exactly what this person said to do and I am going to document it each day on this blog post and show how much money I do make. I hope that you will follow along with me.

I do not mean to sound pessimistic, but I predict that no money will be made. There was so much not mentioned, frankly, I was amazed this person could guarantee my success. So, this is what I am going to do. I am going to do EXACTLY what this system says. I am going to forget all that I do know, and only do what this system tells me. I can say with almost 100% certainty, this will fail. But, follow along with me! Do I think I will get my money back? Highly unlikely considering the rather lengthly explanation given in the first few pages of the system. (I guess this person must know I won’t be successful either). In any case, I hope I am wrong! I will begin on Monday and we will all see how successful this system is.

{February 13, 2009}   Sorry to have been away

Hello everyone! I normally like to post something every few days on my blog, but have had a few unfortunate health episodes which have kept me away. Between my children and the flu, I was down for a few days. Then, to make things interesting, my eye began to water uncontrollably. I was in exteme pain when I was in any kind of light. I finally made myself go to the eye doctor and found out my cornea is inflammed. Thankfully, with a little eye drop of painkiller and some prescription eye drops, my eye is no longer a water faucet. Unfortunately, it is still painful to look at the computer screen. I am told it will take about a week for my eye to heal. I will be taking a week off and be back to normal next week. I look forward to sharing network marketing news and helpful information soon. Until then, happy marketing!

Attraction Marketing Magic?

Attraction Marketing Magic?

Is there a magic attraction marketing formula? Is attraction marketing new? If you have viewed any marketing ads claiming they can help you generate leads and grow your business, you have probably seen the term “attraction marketing.” You will see people say things like “never sell your business opportunity” or “selling your business opportunity is the best way to fail in your business.” If this is confusing to you and you think you need to go out and buy a bunch of e-books, don’t bother. I am going to tell you what they mean by this, without making you spend a dime. In fact, if you stick with me and bookmark this blog, I will tell you a lot of things which people will try to charge you for in an e-book. Why? Call me a nice person, call me crazy, but I don’t want you to be taken to the cleaners by some “marketing gurus” who make money off of naïve network marketers stuggling to start a business. So, today, I want to explain what attraction marketing is and how you can apply this strategy to your business.
Attraction Marketing is when people come to you because they are attracted to your leadership and personality. This is the natural way to grow your business because people are attracted to other people as opposed to businesses or products. Don’t believe me? Look at some commercials on TV. What is being sold in the car commercial, the car or the beautiful lady driving it? People are attracted to other people more than they are attracted to things. Therefore the key concept of attraction marketing is not selling people on your business or product, but rather, selling people on yourself. This is different from going out and asking everyone you meet to join your business or buy your products. Attraction marketing is not nagging your family and friends with your business opportunity. With that being said, many new marketers will ask, how can I sell my business and products then? Well, attraction marketing is nothing new. In fact, it is the internet “gurus” who have cleverly labeled, packaged and sold what successful marketers have been doing for years. The internet has just made it a little easier to get your name and face out there, but in the past, people did this without the internet and without buying a bunch of ebooks.
So what do you need to do to attract other people to you? You need to be a leader. A leader is attractive and people flock to them. You may notice this in your work environment or among your friends. In social settings or at a family dinner, the leader always emerges. When they talk, everyone leans in to listen. Leaders make their presence known when they walk into a room.
Are you a leader? Are you confident? Are you able to express yourself? Are you an expert in your field? Do you work to discover what your customers need and want? Are you willing to help others? If you answered yes to these questions, then you probably have an attractive personality. So let’s look at each question, and see how it can apply to your network marketing business.

1)How do you appear to other people? Are you confident? When you go out and talk with people, do you look them in the eyes? How is your posture? Do you appear nervous? Your posture and attitude are the first things people see, before you even speak. People will make a judgment on you within the first few seconds of meeting you. That means, when meeting in person, you will be judged before you even speak. When a group of people were surveyed, the number one reason people joined a business opportunity was because they liked speaker. How we present ourselves is key. With that being said, here are just a few tips you can do to bring about a favorable impression.

a. Dress professionally. This may sound basic, but meeting in jeans and a t-shirt does not give you credibility. For women, low-cut shirts and short skirts do not say smart and professional. Leave that for the dance club if you feel you need to wear that. You want to be respected and not gawked at.

b. Be aware of your posture. How you stand says more than anything you could ever say. Do not slouch, but stand tall and hold your head up high. Practice doing this. When people feel threatened or uncomfortable, they naturally slouch, wring their hands or cross their arms. Practice standing in a confident posture, so that when you do feel uncomfortable, you will not automatically assume a posture which screams discomfort.

c. Look people in the eyes when talking with them. When you look people in the eyes, you show that you are a leader. If you know anything about dogs, you will know that the leader of the pack will stare down the other dogs and put them in their place. I am not recommending that you stare anyone down, but eye contact shows that you are confident.

d. Smile! A smile can help relax the person you are meeting with and help them be open to your proposal. Who do you want to meet with, someone who is super serious or someone smiling and happy?

2) Are you able to express yourself? This is very important, since our words speak volumes about who we are. If you have trouble getting your point across or speaking with people, practice with scripts for phone conversations. There are also some great books out there which deal with speaking with others in business. Read these books and practice with your upline or your friends.

3) Are you an expert in your field? If you are not an expert, then become one. Attraction marketing is all about being the leader, the expert in your field. Why would people want to come to you if you don’t really know the answer. If you are selling vitamins, you absolutely should know everything there is about those vitamins in order to answer questions an help other people. Yes, this will take some time, but it will be more than worth it. Your expertise will raise your confidence level which will show in your business presentations and meetings.

4) Listening….Do you work to discover the needs of your customers or your downline? Understanding what your customers want or need is so critical. If you do all of the talking, you will miss what your customer needs and turn them away. Think about it this way. Pretend you sell a vitamin supplement and an energy drink. You are really excited about the energy drink because you have heard people are making amazing sales with it. You meet up with a friend who asks what you are doing. You proceed to bombard them with how great the energy drink is and never ask your friend any questions. Your friend’s eyes begin to glaze over and he is sorry he asked you how you were doing. Little did you know, had you asked your friend how he was, you would have found out he was suffering with low energy, a symptom your vitamin could have helped him with. Too bad, all that talking you did was a waste. You did not help your friend and you missed a sale!

5) Are you willing to help others or just focused on the sale? Helping people gives you depth in your character. An expert leader who cares nothing for people will not have much of a following. When you are willing to help people, they will feel good about seeking you out and asking for your advice. How does that relate to your business? Helping other people results in a two-fold result. People will be attracted to your genuine kindness and want to be your friend. Secondly, they will trust you, because you have a caring nature. For example, if you hear of a friend who is suffering from low energy and your vitamin supplement is known to help this, give your friend a free sample, without expectation. Making it clear that you do not expect your friend to pay you for this sample or place any orders is important. You want your friend to know that you hope this sample will give them more energy. If your supplement really does all that it says, your friend will call you with an order without you nagging them to buy it. The same goes true for your downline. If you bring someone into your business, do not let them sink. Be there to guide them. Help them implement a business plan for their lifestyle and coach them for success.

Being a successful network marketer does not mean spamming your friends and family with your business opportunity or your products. It does not mean emailing all your contacts on Facebook or Twitter and yelling about the new launch product. Network Marketing is about building relationships. Our avenues for advertising and meeting people have opened up considerably with the internet, but the concepts remain the same. There are no short-cuts. It takes time, care and an attitude of genuine concern for others which translates into an attractive personality and powerful network marketer. Trying for the short cuts will not grow your business, but only sabotage it. Applying the principles of attraction marketing is establishing yourself as the expert leader in your field, who genuinely cares for other people, listens to what they want and need, and then provides them the solution.

{February 4, 2009}   I hate cancer

Be at peace now

Be at peace now

Cancer….It is a word I think that is feared by everyone. I think just about everyone knows someone who has been taken by cancer, or has a friend or relative with it. Our family has a very long list of friends and relatives which we pray for each night who have cancer. Sometimes, we find out that people we have been praying for are in remission, and sometimes we find out that the battle has been lost. Today was one of those days.

This is not my usual post on marketing, because today, I found out about another person I knew who was taken by this awful disease. So today, if everyone out there would say a little prayer for Bette, who lost the battle, and her family, who are left to carry on, I would really be thankful.

If you or your friends or relatives have cancer and I can pray for you, please let me know.

Google Strikes Again!

Google Strikes Again!

Just yesterday, I was on Perry Marshall’s blog and learned that google has been taking down network marketing ads. I couldn’t believe it, but as I stated in my previous post, google is a moving target…always changing. This information was also reconfirmed by a number of network marketers who found their PPC ads were either moved down so low that they were not seen, or taken down entirely. Sources indicate that when inquiring about their ads, no answers had been given. Here is a quote from a network marketer who contacted Perry Marshall, “Google no longer considers network marketing, affiliate marketing and MLM businesses as “valid” businesses. As a result, they have disallowed all ads forwarding to affiliate links/sites, bridge pages that then forward to an affiliate site, and any site that contains or mirrors all or portions of a parent company site. Even my ads for my own personal biz site landing page and home business web sites went down.”
So, what is happening with google? With the growing number of network marketers and online scams, google is tightening its screws. I wondered when this would happen. I have watched as a number of replicated websites promoting lead generation, have taken over the network marketing ads. In fact, these systems teach the user to target other network marketing companies in what I consider a somewhat deceptive manner. It was only a matter of time before the google bot got fed up with the same replicated website cropping up under various domain names. I can somewhat understand google’s position with these ads and I will explain why. Some people may call this unfair, but consider google’s standpoint. Their job is to please the person searching for information. If you are searching for information on Herbalife and 20 ads come up that have nothing to do with herbalife, and everything to do with buying into a lead generation system, have you found what you set out to find? Not really. You are going to have to sift through a bunch of crap before you can find real information on herbalife. This is exactly what google is trying to prevent. Their job is to make sure the customer finds exactly what they are looking for on the first search. That customer should not have to search through garbage in order to come across the information that should be listed on the first page.
Unfortunatly, it sounds as though google is making a sweeping generalization, targeting all network marketers and affiliate marketers. However, this is not true. In a blog written by Mike Klingler, he writes “Jim Yaghi (creator of PPC Domination) responded that Google does not deem network marketing and affiliate marketing illegitimate industries, and refers to Google’s Affiliate PPC Policy. He also notes that many of the people who had their PPC ads shut down were using domain masking or domain forwarding, which has been against Google’s Policy for some time.

To read this entire thread, go to Does google hate affiliate advertisers .

Therefore, if you want to be able to put up PPC ads on google, you will no longer be able to use a replicated website under different domain names. From what I hear, if you have ads now, do not go and try to change them. The minute you do, that is when your ad will be scrutinized and not allowed.
What will you need to do? You will need to learn to create your own capture pages under your own domain name. This is important for affiliate marketers too.”
This is all so completely new and I am relaying information I have picked up on the forums and blogs. Perry Marshall is going to have more information and a conference call. You can go to his website here .

With so many more people turning to online businesses, the key to making your business successful by getting traffic is to rank on the first page of the search engines.  Some will try to do this with Pay-per-click, if they can afford it.   Unfortunately, with the sheer amount of competition to rank on the first page in Adwords, you could pay up to $20 per click.  Most small businesses simply cannot afford this.  Therefore, this is a very good reason to get your website on the first page of the natural search, or free search.  Search Engine Optimization or SEO is

The act of altering a web site so that it does well in the organic, crawler-based listings of search engines. In the past, has also been used as a term for any type of search engine marketing activity, though now the term search engine marketing is more commonly used as an umbrella term.”
www.anvilmedia.com/search-engine-marketing-glossary.html

Technology is always changing and google is known as a moving target.  Whereas yesterday, a certain tactic worked to get you on the first page of google, today, there may be an entirely new system to follow.  Businesses need to evolve in order to rank on the first page and get traffic to their sites.

So what exactly should a business do to get a higher SEO ranking?  Here are some of the suggestions given by several sources in this industry:

1.)  Use Cascade Styling pages or CSS pages.  CSS Pages are promoted because they allow your page to load faster.  According to Stone Temple Consulting, CSS pages are important to SEO for the following reasons:

a. Moving important content — especially the unique text that you want the page to rank for, along with any related links — to the top of the HTML file. This is probably the single most important reason for using CSS from an SEO perspective, and can have a significant impact on rankings.

b. Making pages “lighter” in weight, and decreasing the code-to-content ratio. Done properly, this can make your entire site easier    and more    efficient to crawl, leading to more and better indexing of your site’s content.

c. Using standard HTML tags, such as <h1>, which search engines recognize as indicators of important content, instead of fancy <font> tags

d. Using standard HTML tags, such as <ul> and <a> to construct menus that contain standard HTML links to other important areas of your site. This makes these links easily discoverable by search engines, helping ensure more efficient and deeper crawling of your site. “

2.)  Optimization of your content.  Many large companies have pages of content which are not organized as well as they could be, and therefore difficult to find in the search engines.  Accoding to Lee Odden who writes in his article Digital-Asset-Optimization, the importance of optimization is extremely important in order for customers to find what they are looking for easily.  He states,” The task of optimizing any electronic files that can be crawled, indexed, categorized and sorted is where the opportunity lies. This is more than just optimizing social media, it’s a more holistic perspective on helping content become easier to find via search than simply relying on text documents. Most organizations produce an array of different content types and search engines are doing their best to index that content so they can run ads next to it. Optimizing holistically starts with an inventory of a company’s digital assets. Text, images, audio and video are all considered along with the incorporation of keyword messaging across company communications. Matching digital assets with channels of distribution provides marketers with even more opportunity to reach customers since each channel can drive traffic independently as well as improve standard search visibility.”

3.)    Do keyword research to optimize your target audience, determine your competition and rank higher.  Once you determine the best keywords, you will want to use them in the title and ideally they should be in the incoming links directed toward your page. Some people may think that broad keywords are ideal, but this is not the case if you are trying to sell something or have a higher ranking.  For example, if you are selling wagons, you will not get on the first page of google using the keyword wagons, because the competition is much larger than using a more specific keyword.  Instead find relevant longer tailed keywords which better define your product.  This will narrow down the competition and bring more qualified, ready to buy consumers. You may narrow your target audience with a longer tailed keyword like Red Radio flyer wagon. Doing keyword research is not hard as hard as you may think, but I will have more about that in a different post.

4.)    Get as many links to your site as possible through blogging, article writing, video content and social forums.  Unlike the old way of manual linking or buying links, SEO 2.0 revolves around you providing quality content and others picking up on that and using your links in their webpages.  The best kind of links are from sites such as .edu or .gov, as google weights these sites with more importance.

5.)    Write Fresh Content on your webpage.  It is recommended that after building your page, you don’t just leave it.  Your customers are coming to the internet looking for information.  They want fresh content and the more the better.  If you are selling products, make sure to have the manufacturer’s white pages.  Your webpage will rank higher with updated, fresh content, and your visitors will come back.

6.)    Add a blog to your website.  People love to read content and they want to be able to interact with each other.  Make sure your blog has quality content and is updated often.  You should also make sure to answer or comment about any questions your readers have.

If you have a new website, it could take as long as 4-5 months before it gets indexed.  You will not want to wait that long to get traffic to your site.  This is where social forums are great.  If you have a blog on wordpress or build a lens on squidoo, you can place a link within your blog or lens.  Writing great content, using targeted keywords and getting links to your site on a well established social media site, could get you ranked number one in the organic search engines.  When people click on that site, your link will be included within your article and your reader will click through to your webpage, if you have given them a compelling reason to do so.

SEO 2.0 is really just the evolution of SEO.  In the past, SEO was based on keywords and was somewhat complex, sometimes requiring a hired expert to help you rank higher in the natural search engines.   SEO  ranking was every man for himself, but today SEO 2.0 has evolved.  This new way of ranking at the top of the search engines no longer is based on stuffing keywords in your web page, manually submitting links, and one way communication.  SEO 2.0 thrives on awesome titles, excellent content and social interaction through sites like Digg, Squidoo, WordPress, Facebook and Twitter, just to name a few.  Websites rank higher not only by tags and keywords, but content and links.  These links are not bought or manually submitted, but freely exchanged in forums, article content, blogs and videos, just to name a few.  People are sharing great content and relevent information and other people use this information and share their link.

{January 28, 2009}   Making Easy Money Online?

There are so many claims on the internet which promise  that you can make money online, but how many are real and how many are scams?  I cannot possibly examine all of the programs which exist, but I have signed up for quite a few in the past and have been extremely disappointed.  Usually the program promised a certain amount of money per month and claimed how easy it would be to earn this money.  Unfortunately, most were a complete waste of time with no one to contact for help with questions.

I am not going to promote any business opportunities on this post.  I do want the reader to use caution when signing up for business opportunites, educational programs or business systems.  So with that being stated, here are just a few tips:

1)  If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  I am sorry to burst anyone’s bubble, but you cannot make thousands of dollars per month doing almost no work.  There are countless ads which promise this and none of them are true.  If you are thinking of joining a business where they claim this, stay away from it.  It may be a legitimate business, but they are lying to you about the time involved and I personally would not do business with people who lie to me.  Understand, it takes a great amount of time when you are first starting a business.  If you do not have the time, do not do it!

2) Before getting into a new business, you will need to find out exactly what you will be doing.  Understand the business first.  If you have no idea how to get started and are completely new to this field, make sure there is someone real who will train you, so that you can succeed.  There is nothing worse than getting started in a business thinking you will have training, and then being left on your own.  This is a costly mistake.  Don’t let it happen to you.  You should be able to make personal contact with your mentor before you spend money buying into a business.   Ask questions, find out exactly how you will be advertising, understand the investment involved and determine if you are able to do it.  On average 95% of new businesses will fail.  Teaming up with successful mentor will help you beat the odds.

3) Be careful about the educational materials you purchase online.  Do not just buy a product because it sounds great.  I know this may sound obvious, but too often people get carried away with a well written ad and buy training videos which claim that they will help you grow your business.  It sounds great, there is always a limited time to respond so you feel that you need to do it immediately.   Often buyers get caught up in the urgency of the offer and buy without researching and understanding exactly what they are getting.  You know what I am saying.  I am sure you have seen it before too.  Unfortunately, for the person desperate for some answers on how to make money online, these advertisements feed off this need.  Before buying any educational materials, make sure you know exactly what you are getting.  Research the name and see what other people are saying about it.  Make sure it is an objective person and not someone else trying to sell the program.

Educating yourself is the single most important thing that you can do before buying into any business, business tools or educational programs.  Knowing exactly what you are getting and understanding your real business needs will help you make an informed decision which could save you thousands of dollars and months of time.
